The CBC will also improve graduates’ ability to translate knowledge to practice in multiple settings when caring for patients at various stages of wellness and illness across the lifespan.Ĭlinical rotations for these programs include over 600 hours of patient care, some of which are offered in an innovative Dedicated Education Units (DEU), a model for clinical instruction that provides an optimal teaching/learning environment for students, faculty and clinicians. Faculty teaching in the undergraduate program believe the CBC will afford students the ability to use higher order thinking to make clearer connections between theory and practice. Our concept-based curriculum (CBC) was selected to avoid oversaturation that occurs in the ever-expanding amounts of content in nursing curriculum. Students selecting this option will complete all required courses in the nursing major in a sequence that provides accelerated progression and, upon completion, are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become a registered nurse. The UB School of Nursing's accelerated second-degree option for a bachelor's in nursing delivers the undergraduate nursing curriculum in an intensive, full-time, 12-month program designed for the highly motivated, career-minded student who has already completed an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in a field outside of nursing.
